Watermark
Australian Shepherds
Welcome!

Watermark is a small hobby operation located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York. The dog population here is kept small, and all dogs reside in the house. Heather Gould is the human behind the kennel name, and is a charter member of the local ASCA affiliate club, Heart of New York Australian Shepherd Club (HONYASC), as well as being a member of ASCA and AKC parent club USASA.

Watermark breedings are planned with an emphasis on health and temperament first and foremost, followed by correct structure and exquisite movement. In order to keep the numbers low at home, most pick puppies are placed in co-ownership homes where their best attributes can be shaped and showcased on a more individual basis.
At this time, I do NOT breed Miniature American Shepherds, which are NOT a size variety of the Australian Shepherd, but a distinctly separate breed.

BRAGS AND NEWS
We've reached some scary and uncertain times in our country, and I've been sitting back and watching the direction the economy is headed in before making a decision to breed a litter, while also dealing with personal life stuff in the interim. It's been my plan to wait for more surety before making the decision to bring more souls into this world, as my girls tend to be QUITE fertile.

However, my girls are not getting younger each day, and I risk losing the genetics I've built over the past 3 decades if I don't make a move soon. Therefore I'm strongly considering breeding Tarot in the near future for a late winter (2026) litter. I'd be thrilled to get input from those of you checking in on my plans.
